6th EuPFI Conference Athens

Chair’s message

Dear colleagues,

Dr Catherine TuleuIn September 2014, the European Paediatric Formulation initiative (EuPFI) will convene its 6th annual conference Formulating Better medicines for Children in AthensSeptember 17th -18th 2014 in partnership with APV (International Association of Pharmaceutical Technology).

Over the past few years the responsibility of the scientific community to develop and exploit existing, emerging, and novel technologies to achieve the goal of developing better medicines for children has increased. There have been advances in paediatric drug development and attention to regulatory and ethical issues has progressed so that more paediatric trials are conducted. The gap is shrinking. Despite this progress, much remains to do. There are still on-going issues relating to excipients, appropriateness of the route of administration or pharmaceutical form, dosing accuracy and patient’s acceptability. A stronger focus on all these aspects, considering the target age range, severity of illness and the treatment duration, could streamline the paediatric formulation development process.  A part of the path forward was discussed at our previous conference and  and will continue to be discussed at the upcoming 6th EuPFI conference. There is a real opportunity to share and learn from the lessons of the past for the future implementation of the Paediatric Regulation and for the benefit of children

We continue to have a vibrant poster session with many selected by peer review for oral presentation. We encourage you to explore the EuPFI website which contains all the information you need to submit your abstracts.

The conference will enable participants to present, discuss breakthroughs and expand their knowledge on recent developments and challenges in the area of paediatric medicines and administration devices, from academia, industry, hospitals, and regulatory authorities. It will bring together international leaders in the fields of paediatric formulation development to discuss emerging topics in these areas.

Detailed information for companies interested in having a presence at this conference can be found in the flyer.

We invite you to note the dates of 6th EuPFI conference in your diary and begin planning your participation, as well as your abstract submissions. You are very welcome to explore our conference website for further information.

Dont miss this unique opportunity! We are looking forward to welcoming you in Athens, one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world.
